She has performed alongside acts such as Bums Lie, King Hippo, and Ryan Burns (of Josh Phillips Folk Festival) and is fresh off the release of her first album, Astoria Sound; A Sound Story with The El (self-released December 2010), but singer/songwriter Nicole Lund is ready to perform songs from her new solo project.
The development of her unique style - a seamless blend of soul and rock – is the result of a lifetime of musical influence. Growing up in Charlotte, North Carolina, Nicole was exposed early on by her family to the greats - from Bonnie Raitt and Aretha Franklin to Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin.
It wasn’t long after joining The Charlotte Children’s Choir at age nine when Nicole realized that music was her life’s work. Her ambitions grew, and soon she was participating in state-wide competitions. She attended Northwest School of the Arts from ages 11-17 where she focused on voice and b&w photography.
After graduating with a degree in Music Industry Studies from Appalachian State University in 2004, she found her way to Atlanta, Georgia where she was fortunate enough to perform with members of The Derek Trucks Band and get her feet wet on the open mic circuit.
Despite her success in Atlanta, Nicole had always been attracted to New York City, and in 2006 she made the move.
Currently, Nicole is concentrating on composing more original work to put towards a second album while performing in and around NYC. She resides in Astoria, Queens.
