Following a successful debut performance at the Blackstone River Theatre in May of 2012, Longshot Voodoo turned their focus to recording their first EP.
Sampling five of the band’s original songs, “Zen Cave Mojo’ takes listeners on a journey ranging from the uncertainty of love to loss to dealing with the stress of everyday life, yet in an uplifting, rocking effort. Self-recorded in the band’s
secret Zen Cave Studio location and mixed / mastered at Emerson Torrey’s Satellite Studios, the EP is the culmination of nearly 6 months of work.
“Zen Cave” Mojo is representative of the polished, unique flavor of Longshot Voodoo. ”Love Hate Love” recalls Stones-esque inspiration, while lamenting a relationship that is wearing, yet adrenalizing. “Unspoken” evokes the “Gris Gris” emotions of early Dr. John. “NSF Blues” and “Killing Time” demonstrate the various influences of the band, while, along with “Love Hate Love” feature the legendary Michael “Tunes” Antunes on saxophone. The EP wraps up with “Get Away”, a straight-ahead rocker that embodies release of the stresses of the everyday modern world.
With influences of rock, folk, jam, blues, and world music, “Longshot Voodoo makes music to suit everyone.”
