.. In the beginning 1998, there was Julian and Alfonso... The dream started at Junior College in Uvalde, TX when local dreamers (slackers) Julian and Alfonso decided to start a band. The idea turned to reality when they signed up for a talent show in early spring 1999. After coming up with many horrible names, they settled on Morning Star, derived from a video game. Two rehearsals later, three songs were alive and kicking and ready to go. Shortly after the gig, Mr. Andy who. joined the mix. This line up: Julian - guitar, vocals; Andy M. - guitar; Andy who. - bass, vocals; Alfonso - drums would endure one broken bass drum pedal, one year off to college, girlfriends and what not. In the fall of 2000, the band regrouped. Enter Elias, guitar extraordinaire. This lineup did 4 shows before Alf put the drumsticks down for the books; enter Gabriel, local drummer badass... After playing many shows locally (parties, festivals, local clubs) and one in the sunny city of San Antonio, Morningstar went into the studio to record their first album. Recorded at Feely's Music and More with producer Niel Visel at the helm (vocals were done at Niel's Soda Jerk Studio), "as it was" (2002) is an album fueled by strong emotions ranging from heartbreak and despair("Priceless Games," "Forgiven Words") to redemption and revamping ("On A Roll," "Time Is Mine") and the eternally universal love ("Only All," "Love Letter" ). Seething guitars and pulsating rhythms abound in rockers like "Look and See" and "Three Wishes" while the anthemic "In Good Time" will take you in and through the landscapes of your mind. After yet another long hiatus (8 years worth), Morningstar 2010 have rebooted and reloaded for the run with founding member Alfonso back on drums. Each member, having matured musically and personally, brings the maximum potential to the mix and here we are... as it was and as it is, the dream lives on.
