Andreas Baaden / Bio

„I am not looking for trends – I just do the music I like“, says Andreas Baaden. Thus, his music is hard to categorise – it is electronic music mingled with some elements of rock, ambient, trance, dance, hip hop, downtempo, jazz – anyway: Just listen and find out yourself.

Genesis and Tangerine Dream being the initial sources of his inspiration, Andreas Baaden released his first album „Gamma“ in 2005. Mellotronsounds, broad choral landscapes and ambient moods are the main ingredients of his tracks. 2008 „Brighton Serenade“ was released, 2009 the album „Turning Point“ came out. In winter 2010 “Slow Down” was released, followed by “Polarlicht” in summer 2012 and "Far Out" in autumn 2013. Gamma is sold out, the tracks of the other albums are available in various online music stores.

Andreas Baaden was born in 1959 and now lives in Aegidienberg near Bad Honnef, in the beautiful and inspiring „Siebengebirge“. In 1980 he started making electronic music. He grew up in a family which was by no means musically active – only his Grandma had an old piano which - due to years of not being tuned at all - produced beautifully wrong tuned sounds. At 20 he fulfilled his dream and bought his first keyboard – a heavy, old and very strange sounding instrument of an unknown Italian company. Soon he explored his first synthesizer, a Korg MS-20, and what followed can only be described as wild experiments with varying recording gear.

After playing a few years in a student rock band in Münster he got tired of carrying three heavy keyboards from one gig to the other. He built his own studio at home and started recording his own music, from time to time jamming with others. Now he is playing in a rock band again: Basement Two in Bonn.

Andreas Baaden's electronic music is used in art therapy groups in Münster. In 2004 he created the musical background for the art project „Corso der Lichtgestalten“, which toured through 36 German cities and raised awareness for the problems of German adult illiterates.
