Shay Esposito is more than just a singer, she is a writer and an artist. Her lyrics comes from her soul and have great meaning and depth. She is a poet who is gifted with a beautiful voice. She is greatly influenced by Edgar Allan Poe, Mark Lawrence and the British Romantics. There is no greater joy for her then taking her poetry and arranging it into a song to share with the world.
Shay achieved her Grade 4 RCM voice certification, with first class honors at age 11, before moving on to study the Pop / Rock genres.
She has merged her love of singing with her love of writing, which culminated in the release of her first full-length album (8 songs) in June 2014. Reviews have been outstanding including nominations at the Edmonton Music Awards, St Albert’s Mayors Celebration of the Arts Award – Emerging Artist. Her writing has already been noticed in the industry, as she made semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition, finalist in the UK Songwriting Competition, and top 5 in the It’s Your Shot competition.
In addition to singing and writing Shay is also an inspirational speaker, speaking on the important topic of youth mental health. Having suffered from depression and anxiety from a young age, she has a unique ability to reach out and connect with other teens suffering from this illness. She speaks out on a topic that most teens shy away from and suffer with in silence. As a result of Shay’s experiences and desire to bring awareness to this very real issue she has been invited to speak at the Dream Big Conference, to teens within the community school system and Shaping the Future, a conference for health care practitioners and educators on building a better future for our teens.
Shay’s efforts in bringing awareness to Youth Mental Health, along with her achievement in her own music career has earned her a nomination nod for Alberta Great Kids Award. An Award recognizing exceptional youth in the community.
