Trooper Thorn / Bio

With influences that literally span the centuries, Trooper Thorn traces their musical heritage from the airs and revolutionary songs of ancient Ireland through the ages, drawing along the way from bluegrass, rock, gospel, classic and contemporary country, plus an impressive suite of original compositions. The evolution of the band could best be called “unconventional”. Seven players with widely ranging musical backgrounds and interests whose paths all seemed to cross in the right place at the right time to form a whole that is decidedly greater than its parts. A unanimous conviction that the music and the stories are more important than the players is what sets Trooper Thorn’s sound apart. Add to that some of the best four, and sometimes five part harmonies and it becomes easy to see why folks keep coming back time and again to have Trooper Thorn lead them on a musical journey that includes voyages across the seas, musings into the depths of the heart, rousing recollections of courage and redemption, and a healthy dose of merriment to top it all off.
