Flavored with her own life experiences as well as that of those around her, Liz Kilgo's dynamic original sound settles uniquely at the crossroads of country and southern rock. "the best way to write is straight from the heart," says Liz, and she does just that on her recently released self written album, "Country In The U.S.A."
This Nashville journey was preceded by a colorful childhood in the backwoods of Minnesota, where Liz lived with her parents, brother and sister in their country home. Musical inspiration came in several forms, one being her Father playing guitar around the house, and another being Liz's Grandfather making up little rhyming songs to help pass the time while working on his farm. Liz began songwriting at the age of 9, and at age 13 had formed her first band with her sister and cousin. Participating in school plays, band and choir, Liz also took voice lessons and began recording her own songs at home.
Liz Kilgo went on to professionally record 3 gospel songs that were distributed and played on radio stations in Europe. One of these songs was also played on Liz's hometown radio station for 2 years by request as positive country music. "I was raised on country music," she recalls, "it's in my blood. I was shy growing up, but now I like to go against the grain in my writing every chance I get. I don't like being status quo."
Following several self produced ventures, and being discovered via social media by a retired record executive, Liz's dream would not die, finally leading her to Nashville, Tennessee where she got her feet wet frequenting local writer's nights as an up and coming singer/songwriter, and cut her first full studio album.
The release of Liz's first full album "Chasin' Dreams," was followed by several single releases, yielding radio play of her songs: "Minnesota Winter," "Wrong Way Home," and "Proud About It," regionally in the Midwest, as well as on XM's Nashville Channel and iHeartRadio. Thereafter, Liz released the EP titled "Proud About It" along with her first professional music video, and went to work writing a brand new full album!
