Paul Barry Music / Bio

Paul has been passionate about music and the drums since he can remember.

His earliest influences were Keith Moon, Ginger Baker and Animal from the Muppets. After years of begging and pleading with his parents, he got his first kit and began lessons at the age of 12. He played constantly through High School, both in rock bands as well as local orchestras and theater groups. In doing so, Paul developed a keen ear and ability to play in diverse scenarios.

Over the last ten years Paul focused his energy on pursuing one band or two at a time while teaching part time. During that time he has become quiet proficient in many styles including: Rock, Indie, Electronica, Country, Drum and Bass, Blues, Pop, Folk, Ambient, R n B, Hard Rock and more with such artists as: Ambisonic, The Dunes, Cobra Ramone, Birds of Wales, Cary Shields, The Morning Spoke, Lindsay Broughton, Animal Confession and Megan Sidwell.

He has toured Canada, the United States, England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. He has shared the stage with such acts as Garth Hudson (The Band),The Beautiful South, Thornley, Fiction Plane, The Parlor Mob and Dan Mangan. His music has been featured in commercials, TV shows and major motion pictures.

After extensive travels around much of the world during 2010, Paul took a more active approach towards pursuing songwriting, Piano, Guitar and Voice. It was also during this time that he decided to take on more and more projects as a session musician.

Since early 2013, Paul can be found in beautiful Auckland, New Zealand. He is actively gigging, doing sessions and teaching drums and guitar. In early 2016 Paul released his debut solo work under the alias "The Ever Wandering." You can find the self titled Ep here https://theeverwandering.bandcamp.com/
