Ryan Walker is the constant songwriter behind the Washington, DC-based band The Beanstalk Library. On their acclaimed local debut AMERICA AT NIGHT, as well as on more recent internet-released recordings, the band has explored classic pop and roots influences and welcomed contributions from other notable DC musicians, including members of Exit Clov and These United States.
The Beanstalk Library has built a loyal following playing venues in the Washington, DC area and along the East Coast including The Black Cat, IOTA, The Living Room, Jammin' Java, and Rock and Roll Hotel, and sharing bills with, among others, Retribution Gospel Choir, Cloud Cult, Jukebox The Ghost, Justin Jones, Frontier Ruckus, Modern Skirts, Field Music, Tapes n' Tapes, Cotton Jones, Jenny Owen Youngs, Sera Cahoone, and Illinois.
Our debut album AMERICA AT NIGHT received unanimous accolades from local press, comparing our sound to Big Star and Wilco. In June 2013, we released THE VIEW FROM HERE, which broadens the classic folk and pop palate of the first album with more experimentation and heavier rock and soul influences.
