Angela Hollis better known as her stage name A. Jenay “Da Next Protégé” is a new female rapper out of the south. Born in Junction City, Kansas, her family moved to Savannah, Georgia for a better life and to be closer to family. Starting as a poet, A. Jenay has always been an artist. She started rapping in high school in 2003 and formed a group with her 2 female friends called “Down South Georgia Girls.” However, the trio did not last because of lack of contact after graduation. While entering college in 2007, A. Jenay continued to write poetry and music independently. In 2010, she auditioned her music for Hustle ENT president and CEO, Erik Hodge. He immediately started recording with her to launch her rap career. Now at age 23, A. Jenay is the new talk-of-the-town with her new single “Fast Car.” It is the 1st single off her upcoming mixtape “The Beginning” to be released in spring 2011.
