Here's an interview I did a while back: http://carrolldaleshort.com/MusicFromHome/mfh_012for091111.mp3
I'm a harmonica player that happens to enjoy writing songs. I also play guitar and ukulele. I'm 30 and I've been making noise with muiscal instruments since 1996 when I picked up the harmonica for the first time.
I held the Blues Traveler album, Four, in my hand and read the liner notes, "John Popper plays Hohner Special 20 harmonicas." So a few weeks later with $25 in my pocket I got my dad to take me to Nuncie's to buy my first real harmonica. I just messed around with it until college when I started studying the blues a lot more, then at my grandmother's 80th birthday Joe Broadhead heard me play harp and invited me to play with him in a band called The Cat's Mojo. Since then I have been lucky enough to play with some of the best artists and musicians in and around Birmingham, Alabama.
I am a full time member of Joe & the Kid, Motel Ice Machine and my solo project. I can also be seen on occasion with Josh Brown George and the G-Men, and who ever will let me sit in. I even sat in on a Battle of the Blues Bands with George playing bass . . . and we came in second place!
I was also nominated for the best harmonica player at the 2012 International Blues Challenge.
