The Vam Commanders formed in 1998 in Ashland, Oregon. Their influences were diverse and their music incorporated elements of rock, metal, reggae and rap. In three years, they recorded six CDs and played opening slots for large acts like Vanilla Ice and Green Jello. They were known for their high-energy live shows and singalong choruses.
But after several years, band members moved to different cities to go to college or start families. Occasionally, they would play an unannounced reunion gig, but they were all too busy with their own lives and other musical projects to get the band back together.
But their fans kept asking the band to reunite. After nearly a ten-year hiatus, the band finally agreed.
They began emailing new songs back and forth to one another.
Their new album, This is Not a Time Machine, will be released in summer 2011.
