Known throughout the midwest as the hard-hitting bassist of the Funk/Rock band Dead Larry, Joe is all but unfamiliar with the midwest music scene. Joe utilizes his music as an emotional outlet. Most of Joe's songs are auto-biographical, and are as much therapy for him as his fans. Overall it's the message of love, hope and togetherness that draws fans to his folk/pop stylings. The goal is to inspire, and be inspired in return.
Smokin' Joe has performed with such acts as Wookiefoot, Pert Near Sandstone, The Ragbirds, John Wayne and the Pain, Useful Jenkins, and more. Joe loves collaboration, and he is often joined by amazing musicians during his shows. When listed as "Smokin' Joe & Friends" he is often joined with Jon Eric, Alyssa Baye (Insectoid), Joshua Felling (Dead Larry), Ned Barclay (Dead Larry), Ryan Persinger (5 in a Hand), Bobby Patrick (Gypsy Lumberjacks), Pat Forsythe (Useful Jenkins), and even once with Mark Murphy (Wookiefoot)! Joe's main focus is Dead Larry, but this side project has proven itself to be an integral part of his life in music.
