Miss Precious aka Pretty S'ditty is a hip-hop recording artist who developed her lyrical skills from being a prolific poet. Born Dominique Moore, after three boys, she was the first born girl of six children born to her parents. She was given the nickname, Miss Precious, by her father. The moment he saw her, he declared her “the most precious baby ever.” The nickname remained and later became her stage name.
Her family relocated quite often, moving back and forth from the lower class neighborhoods of Kansas City, MO to Minneapolis, MN. Despite being raised in an unstable home by a struggling single mother, and an absent father, her three older brothers had a strong impact on her life. They were very overprotective, and did not allow her to be heavily influenced by the ways of the streets, that so often too many young girls get involved in. Having always had a strong connection and love for hip-hop and R&B, she indulged herself into music.
In her first year of middle school, Miss Precious began to rap informally in her classrooms to her fellow classmates. Soon after, she began writing poetry and songs that were influenced by her surroundings and life experiences. In 2008, overwhelming feedback from her local community prompted the Minnesota native to pursue music professionally. At first, it was just a hobby, but the more she performed live and recorded songs, the deeper her love grew for being an artist.
"Once I got into the studio and started doing shows, nothing else fit," Miss Precious said.
A few of her musical influences includes: Lauryn Hill, MC Lyte, and Queen Latifah. The common element that she admires in these women is their high-level of positivity.
Miss Precious has collaborated with a host of local artists and has even opened for heavy-hitters such as, Rich the Factor and Rasheeda, just to name a few. Stemming from her upbringings, she has a humble spirit, competitive nature, and a full awareness of self. She is a very ambitious, driven and confident individual. Her distinctive sound comes from real life experiences that she has been through, and also things that she has wanted to address. She is not only determined to display top-notch music, but also character.
Miss Precious is currently recording her debut full-length album entitled “High Heels & High Standards” and also appeared on the cover of Snoop Dogg and JT The Bigga Figga’s hip-hop magazine, Mandatory Business from the Bay Area.
