Kate Westfall / Bio

Relay-driven audio for the chronically resurgent.
Kate Westfall, of Ohio, creates her original solo music through looping layers of vocal melodies and sound effects. Performances include a blend of live vocal overdubbing, keyboard, and pre-arranged phrases through digital processors.

Her style is being described as "acappella electronica".

Westfall's debut album, "VoKate", was released in 2008, with a focus on organic creativity. All tracks (excluding one) were created solely through the bodily instrumentation of Westfall herself.
The "VoKate" album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Eric Barnett.

Material for two more albums is currently in process!

Bobby McFerrin, Bjork, Enya, Loreena McKennitt, traditional native and folk music, Scott Weiland, Venus Hum, Tool, Ani Difranco, Alanis Morrisette, The Gathering, Katell Keineg, Robbie Robertson, Frank Zappa, Ben Westfall, Nate Westfall... and all of everything from a lifetime of listening to music.
Also been referenced to sounding like Imogen Heap, Meredith Monk, Joni Mitchell, Tori Amos, Ollabelle, Sweet Honey on The Rock, and Fever Ray.

"'Vokate' gathers a wide range of influences to create a lush new musical world." "Westfall's music isn't so much emerging from one place or style as it is an ocean touching upon the shores of many lands...creating a lush, seductive musical fabric that sweeps the listener away." "She builds her world in loops and layers, pyramids of sounds and watery harmonies." "Her vocal range is impressive, going from a throaty alto to a sweet soprano while at the same time freely traveling along the continuum from folk style to polished poise."
