A wandering singer-songwriter from West Virginia living in East Nashville. The name comes from a road sign far from home, a token of early journeys in life that sparked the desire to travel as a musician in the first place.
Wilbur By The Sea is the introspective musing of singer-songwriter Sean Knisely, whose love of music began with the sounds of Nintendo and Ghostbusters as a child before progressing into obsessions with the Beatles, Radiohead and Elliott Smith.
After fronting the electro-rock band Attack Flamingo in West Virginia, a broken engagement led to a season of identity-searching and cathartic songwriting. Knisely emerged with a more vulnerable indie acoustic style and began traveling the Northeast with a fresh, adventurous outlook. The road eventually led to East Nashville, where Knisely also plays guitar for indie rock four-piece Coyotes in Boxes.
