Tonal Recall is a group of Bay Area music veterans who have joined together because of their intense love for singing harmony. With three great voices and various instruments, Tonal Recall is eclectic, versatile and FUN, performing great songs you’d expect: by groups like the Beatles, Indigo Girls, The Eagles, Crosby, Stills and Nash; and some you wouldn’t: Little Willies, Zack Brown Band, The Who and Uncle Walt’s Band. Tonal Recall has played all around the Bay Area, including The Pacifica Arts on Fire Festival, Johnny Foleys Irish House, Plush Room, Blackthorn Tavern, Giordano Brothers, Revolution Café, Chit Chat Café, San Benito House, Mucky Duck, Bay View Boat club and Mariposa Yacht club, as well as for private dinner/fundraising events for the groups like the District 11 Democratic Club, Friends of the Library and the AFSC. Member Biographies -
Patti Cobb: Vocals, keyboards, guitar, recorder, percussion, kazoo
Patti has loved singing all her life. She has performed in small acoustic groups with singer/ songwriters David Gans, Sam Pointer and Ted Czuk. While earning her music degree, Patti sang with the UC Berkeley Collegium Musicum, the SF Chamber Singers and at Renaissance Faires. Then she began playing in local rock and blues bands including Blue Monday, Absolon, The Michael John Band, Boogieman, Lookin’ For the Good and Brazen Hussy & the Blue Hearts. While backing her brother, noted Bay Area guitarist Chris Cobb, Patti got to play with many fine musicians, including blues legend Ruth Brown. Patti has also played for Scottish Dancing with stellar fiddlers such as Alasdair Fraser, Darrol Anger, John Taylor and Deby Benton-Grosjean.
John Hall: Vocals, guitar, bass, harmonica
Since 1988, John has been singing and playing guitar with Brother Buzz, a well-known Bay Area Rock and R&B dance band. Brother Buzz has rocked many a club, fair and private function over the years, but can be found most regularly at Lou’s Pier 47 Club in San Francisco, The Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, and St. James Gate in Belmont. At Lou’s John has played with many Bay Area notables including Chris Cobb. John has also been known to sub and sit in with the Americana flavored band Paul Taylor and the Montara Mountain boys. In his studio he has produced CD’s by the Montara Mountain Boys, Nomi Harper, Mark Kostrzewa, and Ken Sailors. John brings his energy and enthusiasm to all his musical endeavors.
Phil McGee: Vocals, bass, guitar, keyboards
Phil McGee is a Bay Area native who has been a performing musician since high school. A talented multi-instrumentalist and singer, Phil is fluent in many acoustic and electric music genres from folk-blues to jazz and rock, and has performed with many successful bands in the greater Bay Area over the last thirty years.
