Formed in the early 80s Gon Publik has been rocking long before most of the original rock bands in Detroit were born! Inspired by Punk Rock in the late 70s, and "New Wave" in the 80s, After the original guitar player Doug and Bass player Mike quit, Jon (vocals) and Russ (drums) recruited Chris Duffield to play bass and continued to tour the band with a variety of guitarists. Michael Kudrieko stepped up to help finish the recordings that Gon Publik were working on when Doug quit. He was stellar!! Jon talked Mike K. into staying with the band and not too long after Keith Jackson joined adding a 70s punk attitude that completely changed the band. The old songs were abandoned and new songs written that were far more upbeat and explosive!! Soon they were booked to play classic Detroit venues like Bookies, Todds, St. Andrews Hall, and City Club. This band was electric and exciting and many people thought that they would be the next band to break out of Detroit!!
