Marcio Anderson Da Silva Farrusco, alternatively known as G baby Da Silva is a recording artist, producer, songwriter and sound engineer from Luanda, Angola, born 8th March 1992. He was raised in Cape Town, South Africa, with his mom and three elder siblings making him the youngest in the family. From the age of twelve, G baby Da Silva began learning to make beats and training his lyrical skills at his childhood home in Table View for the love of the music that he enjoys to listen to. He is driven by inspiration and it was not long before his original style set him apart as a recognisable talent.
G baby Da Silva is part of Volcanic Music Entertainment, an independent commercial African Hip Hop label based in South Africa bringing together talented producers and multilingual artists from all over the continent including DR Congo, RSA, Zimbabwe, and currently expanding. His elder brother Sidney, representing Volcanic ENT in Angola, also exhibits diversity and a straight up sense of style in his music.
Since 2010, G baby Da Silva has been gaining exposure throughout the City of Cape Town doing live shows and performances, while building up a reputable and quality track record over the years. During this time he has released the NBK album, Vocal Exercise Mixtape Vol. 1, Heir to the Throne Mixtape, The Virus Mixtape and various single promotional releases online.
Outgoing, cheerful personality, down to earth, and not shy to say anything, his first gig was played at Chrome Nightclub (now Concept) in Cape Town. From there onwards he was performing with various artists at events all around the City including ChezNtemba, The Loop, St Yves, Dragon Room, Casa Blanca, ZAR, Assembly, Zula Sound Bar, #Sizzled and the very first #Faded event (hosted by OHP Productions) before hosting his own #NBKWestCoastTour events.
Also known as G bwoah, he enjoys making Hip Hop from a broad point of view mixing commercial Hip Hop, with conscious freestyle rap, and R&B. Within his pursuit he has been adding Trap and Electronic tracks to his list of records, which have been released by DJ’s worldwide in the clubs and at outdoor festivals getting good reviews, such as ‘BadaBangBadaBoom’ and 'Keep It 100' remixes.
In November 2011, G baby Da Silva performed ‘To the Top’ on SABC 2 for the RAWkus talent competition on Hectic Nine-9. He made it to the finals of the competition and finished runners up. The experience was one of many learning curves that he and Volcanic ENT had to pass along the way; however, perseverance, determination, and shear will not to fail has allowed the independent group to continue to get better at doing what they love to do.
G baby Da Silva released his first music video in November 2012, entitled ‘NBK' on YouTube. He went on to launch his New Breed Kings debut album in March 2014 with ‘Cape Town’s Back’ featuring DJ Ready D making it onto Channel O, MTV Base and Vuzu TV charts. He appeared on popular South African television shows Shiz Niz (e.tv), Ek Se (CTV) and Expresso Show before featuring on a track called ‘Tonight’ in 2015 with Angolan artists Dream Boyz, from Wonder Boyz Records, making it onto high rotation radio playlisting in Angola. G baby Da Silva later performed at a few events in Joburg before finally opening at the 2015 Cape Town Hip Hop Summer Jam on the same line-up as AKA at The Castle of Good Hope.
During this time he completed his Diploma in Sound Engineering at Damelin College in June 2015 providing him with the fundamentals to concentrate his technical knowledge and perfect his art, as both CEO and performing artist at Volcanic Music Entertainment. In his spare time, he enjoys skateboarding, making beats and chilling with his team plus family.
G baby da Silva likes to keep his sense of style original, he enjoys the sounds of Reason and Cassper Nyovest, with international interests ranging from Big Sean, Nate Dogg, Wiz, Dre and NWA. Music collaborations that he has been involved with include Taio Tripper, ASH (Warner Music SA), SlewDada, YoungstaCPT, Miss Celaneous, BlaQ Slim, E-Jay CPT Dee Monse, Qd Tonj, Masta Lu aka ‘Crazy Lu’, Dream Boyz Angola, with more to come in the near future.
