Molotov Dogs / Bio

The musical style of Molotov Dogs is a hybrid of Rock, Country, and
Funk. Some call it Alternative Country or Country Rock. Ask one of the Dogs and he'll say they sound like a double shot of Mid-American groove with a dash of urban perspective, mixed with a rusty railroad tie. Recently a frequenter of the local Denton scene described Molotov Dogs as "a HOT f'n band!"
Those who dig Molotov Dogs are hard working people who enjoy high energy music and like to have a good time. Molotov Dog fans are not your martini crowd you might find in Uptown Dallas. The Dogs' fans like things simpler and louder. Molotov Dogs have gone through some changes since founding in 2009, but the current sound has hints of ZZ Top, The Doors, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Green Day, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and even Corb Lund. However, Molotov Dogs certainly have a style all their own.
The Dogs' current release is "Southern Funk Machine" (2/27/2015). Appropriately titled, this record is a clinic for the melting pot of rock, country, a funk. It's a high quality studio album with awesome guest performers that are from the DFW scene, including Burton Lee (pedal steel, 1100 Springs), Poppy Xander (keyboards), Jesse Thompson (banjo, Levi Cobb and the Big Smoke), and Ryan Hall (harmonica, Woody's Rampage). The prior release, "Freakshow Abbey, Back from the Dead and Twice as Sexy", was recorded live at The Abbey Underground on Halloween night 2013. It was released as an 8 song, 43 minute full length album for free download on Noisetrade.com on 1/17/2014. Earlier LP releases include "Burning Texas" (2013) and "Chupacabra Nights" (2011). Molotov Dogs music can be acquired on most online music portals.
Molotov Dogs was founded by Craig Nance, Blake Brownlee, and Vic Aben in the Fall of 2009 in Denton, Texas. The band began writing original music immediately, and began gigging around the time that Rev. Matt Hall was absorbed into the group in the Spring of 2010. In the Summer of 2011, the Dogs replaced departing drummer Vic Aben with Macky Barnett and then Blake and Matt took over the vocals in the winter of 2012. By Spring 2013, the Dogs recruited Lucas Albano to play drums.
Current Molotov Dogs lineup:
