“I just want to bring timeless music back into the picture,” explains Boston R&B crooner Ballad. “Unlike songs these days that tend to fade away I strive for my music to be enjoyed by generations to come. Ballads are poetic love songs that accomplish longevity because they relate to the world. I want to make music that will last forever just like the greats that have done it before me.” Born in Luanda, Angola, Ballad now resides in Brockton, Massachusetts. He overcame his shyness due to the huge culture shock after moving to the US from Luanda and he managed to adapt to the culture thanks to music. Inspired by greats such as Michael Jackson, Usher, Marvin Gaye and Prince, Ballad took advantage of not having too many friends growing up by using his spare time to pen poems that would eventually see him write full blown songs with Stevie Wonder and Ne-Yo‘s songwriting influences playing a key role in his talent blossoming. A young Ballad would turn the radio on, grab his imaginary microphone and put on a show for all of his ‘fans’. Some of his best performances were in front of the bathroom mirror. He finally found his voice and confidence and has been grinding away writing and recording music ever since. Ballad stays busy writing original content, and traveling to collaborate with other artist as serious about their work as he is.Oozing with vocal passion and a syrupy new-wave finish, Ballad is a stylistic individual whose moody yet uplifting compositions arm him with the tools needed to inspire an audience obsessed with feelings and lullaby-like soundscapes, much like current industry favourites The Weeknd, Miguel and Tinashe. With features on sites such as ThisIsRnB.com, YouKnowIGotSoul.com and more as well as play on national and international radio stations, Ballad is on the rise. Currently working on his new EP Suite ’89 with regular collaborator producer Jay Muse, he will be following up on his recent Nitty Scott MC-assisted single “Do It Like You” with a new single soon. Ballad is proof that real R&B is alive and well.
