Marisa is a rare breed of natural talents. Many stars are auditioned, manufactured and shipped out to the public, but she brings a genuine and raw charisma that captivates the audience. She draws in her listeners with her airy voice and hooks them with her melodic tones and heavy hitting vocals. That, in combination with a striking beat, translates into a deadly hit. Mixing electro-pop sounds with her RnB swag and hip hop undertones, she brings a unique and unforgettable treat to your ears.
She is not your average girl; growing up with a California native mother and a dad born and raised from the West Indian Island of Dominica, this up and coming singer/songwriter comes from a world of different cultures. This blend of the two parents has molded her to develop a unique outlook and beat, while being exposed to different lifestyles, which shines in her own personality and music. With a very liberal upbringing, Marisa was always instilled with the idea that as long as she puts her mind to it, she can achieve anything.
Since she was a child, there was something about Marisa that people could see. She was a star from birth. She had an appeal that commanded everyone's attention and drew their liking to her and had an outstanding voice to go along with it. "As a child, she would cry to a tune," her mother would say. "She would walk around the house singing to anything and everything."
Growing up listening to artists such as Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Aretha Franklin, music has been a big influence in Marisa's life, and her biggest passion. After seeing a performance of Mariah Carey on tv, she knew from that moment that music was what she wanted to do. Harboring her love and talent, Marisa grew up performing, and winning, many talent shows throughout her city. Making school and having a childhood a priority, she waited until graduating high school before perusing her dreams, but wrote daily and explored her craft in efforts to perfect it.
Not entirely new to the industry, her buzz track "til The Sunrise" garnished much attention in 2010, making waves on internet radio and having high popularity on iTunes, allowing her the opportunities to open for artists such as Chris Brown, Tinashe (during her time with "The Stunners"), Sean Kingston, and many more. Many people wanted more, but the whirlwind of attention caused the not-so-ready songbird to take a hiatus and re-work her style and sound to come out with a more confident project to take flight with.
A little time in the oven, and the bird is finally done. Marisa's official first single "Gold" is due out summer 2015. It will be the first track off of her 5-song ep of the same title acronym "G.O.L.D." With much anticipation already in place, the song and project are destined to be a sure fire hit.
The sky is not the limit for for this young and ambitious star, as there is so much she can accomplish if she is determined to make it happen! With so much to share with the world, she won't stop until she is heard. Marisa's story may not be in the limelight now, but she soon will be a household name.
