Howie Campbell / Bio

Friendly, entertaining, engaging Howie's shows always involve the audience. He's been singing and playing guitar all over America for many years. Songs about life, love and living invite the listener into a world filled with hope and possibilities. Beginning in the 1970's with the Dutchess Community College Jazz Ensemble and the Sunshine Band in New York's Hudson Valley and Catskills, to traveling the United States with his wife Debbie as a folk duo, Howie's music draws from many influences. His songwriting is a blend of folk, rock, jazz, blues and ethnic and he covers artists such as James Taylor, Jim Croce, The Eagles, 60s and 70s folk/rock.
Decades onstage have matured Howie as an engaging performer. Many of his songs involve aspects of his personal experience, such as the true story, four generation train song: Long Train Comin; or his take on life and death: Cycle of Life; fun songs like the one he wrote when Debbie returned to college: Computer Baby; love songs like The Greatest High and family songs like: Days Gone By all make up a repertoire audiences around the country have come to love and sing along with.
Howie considers himself blessed to have studied and worked with high quality artists like: Jimmy Gannon (Buddy Rich, Woody Hermon) and Roger Thorpe (Glenn Miller, Sammy Kay), Frank Malley, Marc Giammarco, Marc Elbaum, Randy Ciarlante (The Band) and many others. More recently Howie has had the pleasure of working and /or recording with George Melvin (Toots Thielmans, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Charlie Daniels, Roberta Flack etc), Robby Meadows (Jimmy Fortune, Kooter), Jonathan Presnell, Tony Perrino (Dicky Betts, Dan Toler, Blue Oyster Cult, et al) and Johnny Mulhair (Lee Ann Rimes, Chicago, Will Bannister, etc), Ken Kotarski, Joe Tucker, Tony Mora, Susan Grimm, Jim Wingo, Haywood Giles, Rich Muller to mention a few.
