With a Pop style that’s clearly infused with elements of R&B, hip hop, rock and reggae, Jamera definitely brings variety to the world of music.
Born in Yokosuma, Japan, Jamera moved to the US at age 4 and began writing music at the age of 5. Her mother and father performed classical, jazz & blues, fueling a love for classic genres. As a pre-teen she cliqued with southern Cali's battle rappers, break dancers, and alternative rock bands; all of whom heavily influenced her creative foundation.
Jamera began her professional music caeer in the art centered atmosphere of Brooklyn, New York. She got her start performing in lower Manhattan's eclectic clubs, touring the North east College circut with underground Hip hop artists, and performing for social awareness campaigns like the "Save Africa Concerts," and the "Light after Midnight" project helping victims of domestic violence. In a small studio in the Marcy Projects, Jamera began recording in 2005 with hip hop collective, UV Ink, lending her vocals to rap hooks and discovering her own style along the way. Based on quirky vocal rhythms and bent notes, her hypnotic pop melodies carry double edged lyrics so even those of us who like word play are involved.
With her heart rooted in Brooklyn's artistic culture, Jamera took her act to Atlanta where she finished her first EP "TheSampler" produced by Jamin James and herself. Single handedly, Jamera wrote, sang, designed, promoted, and distributed her EP world wide online and in Atlanta's local club and bar scene. The hands-on experience gave Jamera an appreciation for the art of supplying products people need AND desire. Seeing herself and other local artist as small business owners, Jamera committed to creating a more potent brand of spirit rocking entertainment.
Jamera’s international travels cemented her adoration for dance music from around the world. Armed with a stage precence that can only be described as electro magnateic, she quickly captured audiences throughout the US, Canada and Europe. Her voice has held down the mic in New York's famous SOB's, Pianos and Atlanta's Fox theater alongside DefJam’s Tierra Marie in NYC, DJ Drama and the Affiliates in Atlanta. Currently, Jamera collaborates with producers such as Teddy Bishop (Aalyah, Toni Braxton), Jamin James (Rasheeda & Gucci Man). Her Twitter trending singles ‘’Sober’’ and ‘’Grown’’ have hit hard on radio stations through out the US & UK.
Jamera's 2nd EP entitled "Jamera1" (Jam Era to the 1st Power) points to a new music Era. She espouses a movement of Indie Pop Art Culture. As we indulge in only the first level of Jamera's power and potential her music welcomes us to dig in and discover our own.
