Shirley Lynn / Bio

Shirl’s familiarity as a songwriter has grown since her song “My Kind of Paradise” won multiple awards including 2015 Best Song in the Max T Barnes Cairns to Nashville Song Contest amidst an impressive line-up of contenders and 2013 Port Douglas Song of Carnivale. With RADF funding in 2013, an official video was created for the song.

Music has become a vehicle for her self-expression through which her songs and performances reveal a contemplative folk, country, bluesy connection drawing on mindful authenticities that explore simple concepts, philosophical realms and insightful story lines.

“It takes belief to affirm and be true to oneself to build on the foundation of what you’ve got. It takes commitment to keep on going when times seem tough. Not everybody gets who you are or where you’re coming from. It takes courage to bare your soul, speak up and say what you mean and mean what you say – when you know you’ve got so much to learn….”

With original melodies and heartfelt lyrics Shirl’s songs are connecting and meaningful sharing positivity, a love of life and a love of her North Queensland home. Well equipped with a strong vocal, acoustic guitar, occasional harmonica hues and ukulele expect to find uniqueness in “Shirl”.

Shirl’s North Queensland home is a paradise a place where the rainforest meets the sea, it’s such a magical part of the world. This song is about that and more. It is about the paradise to be found within. On any day, the way we view our world is coloured by the dimension we have within. Paradise within paradise. We paint ourselves into our own reality through our vibrations - the thoughts we have, the responses we make and the actions we take. As we Taste, Watch, Dance and Play our ever changing experiences are coloured from the inside out. Paradise is already here.
