James Lamar Stankunas was born and raised in the small town of Shamokin, Pennsylvania with his grandparents. Having two musically inclined parents, his mother an R&B lover and his father a rock singer, it was inevitable that James would develop a deep love and appreciation for music. He began singing songs from the ‘50’s and ‘60’s at the young age of 3 and it was evident then that he was surely destined for stardom.
However, it was in his early teens, when James become fascinated with R&B, Gospel, and Jazz, that he began to hone his vocal skills. The versatility of James Lamar’s voice comes from his love of all types of music but his main interest lies in the R&B/Soul genre where he is being compared to the likes of Robin Thicke, John Legend and Eric Benet, among others.
James Lamar’s talents are not limited to the singing stage; he also has experience in the field of acting where at the age of 11, he was fortunate to land a role in the 2006 movie, “Night Listener” starring renowned actor Robin Williams. James is currently managed by Fayevor Management, owned by Faye Fowler (www.fayevor.com). James released his debut single "Fragile Heart" on March 5, 2013 and is working on his debut album.
