There is no replacement for the emotions that only music can bring. Add to that the elements of a live performance, and the stage is set for those emotions to come to life. Singing for live audiences is what Forest Kelly has done for the better part of his life.
Since the early 1990’s, Forest has been a professional singer. Beginning with the electronic-pop/rock group, Fluorescent Echo, and now with the all-vocal rock group, face, Forest has a true love for the stage and live vocal performance. And although his stage roots don’t reflect it, vocal jazz has been at the core of Forest’s musical spirit since he was young.
It was not unusual to hear a 10-year-old Forest humming “Fly me to the moon” or “New York, New York” as the other kids sang along to Michael Jackson. When the Compact Disc was a new technology, one of his very first purchases was a Frank Sinatra box set, “The Columbia Years.” Crooning is in his blood. From a very early age, Forest was not just someone who sang, he was a singer through and through.
Over the past decade, Forest has performed for thousands of people with face and has had the opportunity to perform on national television on NBC’s “The Sing Off” in 2009. Highlights of the last several years include singing the Star Spangled Banner with face at Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies games, as well as performing in Las Vegas, San Francisco, Detroit, Los Angeles and in the middle of the redwood forests in Northern California. With all the big stage experiences, some of Forest’s favorite places to sing are the intimate venues that provide an up close and personal performance.
