Debra G is a professional singer/songwriter, performer, and vocal coach with 18 years of diverse vocal and performance experience and extensive college level training in contemporary genres, classical voice, vocal technique, opera and recital performance and vocal pedagogy. Studying vocal performance at the University of WI, Oshkosh has influenced Debra G to constantly push herself to diversify her vocal and performance styles.
Supported by a strong following in the Midwest, especially Minneapolis/St. Paul, and her continued growth in Colorado, California and New York, Debra G has become a featured guest vocalist with several national touring acts such as: Ten17 featuring Solomon Witherspoon, Copasetic, Root City Band, Mark Joseph Project, Devine Collection, Nathan Miller and The Unstoppables, The New Congress, and “Amor” a professional modern dance collaborative based in Los Angeles, CA featuring live music composed and performed by Debra G. With these bands, Debra G has had the opportunity to open for national and international acts including, Doom Tree, Buddy Guy, Morris Day and The Time, Blues Traveler, Tower of Power and Bret Michaels.
Debra G has appeared on several local Minneapolis/St. Paul television stations such as channel 4 WCCO morning news, KARE11 Showcase Minnesota Homegrown, Rock Watch TC Musique, Town Square Television program "Amp it UP!", and was the featured guest star in 2011 for the first pilot recording of the “G’night Jam”, a local T.V. game show. RockCapitolRadio.com out of New York City, and CitiesLiveRadio.com out of MPLS, keep Debra G’s original songs “The Plea”, “UnAware” and “Tomorrow” on a national and international rotation.
In January 2012, Debra G was a featured vocalist on the Twin Cities radio stations KQRS and Cities97 to promote the annual “Happy Birthday Janis! A Tribute to the Life and Music of Janis Joplin”.
In 2010, 2011 and 2012 Debra G had the honor of performing as one of the “Janis Joplin” vocalists in the annual “Happy Birthday Janis! A Tribute to the Life and Music of Janis Joplin” concert with several outstanding musicians from the Twin Cities area.
Debra G is the featured lead vocalist on an EP recording of the New York City’s risqué musical, “White Noise”.
“The Prick" written and directed by Justin Hawkins debuted in Los Angeles, CA in 2011 featuring three original compositions by Debra G.
“The Plea”, Debra G’s most popular single on iTunes, was awarded finalist in the 2008 "We are listening" International Songwriting Competition. “The Plea” is also featured on the Quickstar Productions (New York City) compilation, “Chill Out” 2009. “Tomorrow” is also featured on the Quickstar Productions compilation, “Come Clean” 2010, and both compilations are internationally distributed.
Debra G had the honor of composing and performing an original a-capella song for the sensational spoken word/dance/music performance of “Amor” during the Nvitational dance festival at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood, CA in 2011.
Since 2010, Debra G has been performing at the Minnesota State Fair at Café Caribe with Mark Joseph Project.
Besides being a full time touring, working musician, Debra G is a vocal and songwriting coach at Swift School of Music in St. Paul, MN (www.SwiftSchoolofMusic.com) and partners with She Rock She Rock’s Girls Rock and Roll Retreat teaching young woman how to be themselves in the music industry. She also partners with an anti-bullying non-profit organization called Youth Frontiers, Inc. (www.youthfrontiers.org) playing music and speaking to youth about the importance of standing up for the value of respect in school.
