Drew Yardis is an Orlando-based singer, songwriter and performer who has made a significant impact on the local music scene in his twelve short years of performing. He began his musical career as drummer with the band Room Service and then was lead singer and guitarist with Mirror Pal. Now playing under his own name, and with a his band, The Drew Yardis Project, Drew has attracted a following of young (and not-so-young) music lovers with his dissimilar selections, haunting melodies and impressive vocal range.
Taking inspiration from a diverse collection of musical icons including Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, The Beatles, Dave Matthews, Jason Mraz and Al Green, Drew adds his own personal style for an experience that has thrilled audiences throughout Florida.
In reviewing his latest release with Mirror Pal, the Orlando Weekly Magazine praised “(Drew) Yardis sets his Jeff Buckley yowl on a rocket ship toward outer space and the results are both rousing and chill-inducing.” Central Florida Community recently applauded Drew’s “…captivating vocals and superb songwriting skills.”
Drew has been recognized for his performing and songwriting talents by the Deland Music Festival (finalist for Vocalist and Songwriter of the Year, 2007) and electric stage performances (winner of the 45 act ‘Battle of the Bands’ at Backbooth in 2009). One of Drew’s original songs (Effection) was a finalist for 2009 Song of the Year at the Deland Music Festival in November, 2009 and Mirror Pal was voted Band of the Year for 2009. In 2011, he played at Club Firestone’s Indie Fall Festival and placed first at Northland’s Rival of the Verse, a singer/songwriter competition. For 2012, Drew has been nominated as Artist of the Year for the Soul of the City awards later this year.
