I would like to start by thanking you for checking out the music...if you like what you hear please let us know or even if you don't like it--we would love to know why.
Lachlan Kraemer represents years of pent musical frustration. I am a total fan of music...it is more than just a way to pass the time--it is an obsession. I love all kinds of music and feel blessed that I was exposed to all kinds of sounds growing up. I am often frustrated by this collection of influences and how it can make the creative process difficult because of the competition of all these various sounds. I am heavily influenced by jazz and funk and much of my bass playing reflects those particular sounds. In my guitar playing--I am much more influenced by lots of delay and reverb...I really like the big, wide sound. I try not to adhere to any one particular genre and I have attempted to record something in everyone one of them.
On this site you will find original instrumental music as well as electronic music. I love electronic music! There is so much more to it than just the cliche 'unse, unse, unse' of the drums. I was heavily influenced by the big trance and house DJ's of the 90's and try and continue on with that sound today. I am not a DJ though...I have no idea how to spin or mix--I merely engineer and produce the music. I like the ability to create all of these sonic layers and make them cohesive. It really is beautiful music but more so I like to mix instrumental and electronic music...hopefully so it sounds seamless and fresh.
I am currently still a solo artist. Most of what you hear on this site is my original work with the exception of one song. I don't have any particular formula for writing music...I just listen to see where the beat and sound takes me. I play bass, guitar, and piano. I program a lot of the electronic stuff but the drums are prerecorded drum loops. I can carry a beat on a real kit but the neighbors wouldn't appreciate the banging.
If you are wondering where the name of the band came from and what the picture on my main page symbolizes--the little baby was my son Lachlan Kraemer. He was born very premature at 25 weeks and made a valiant attempt at overcoming those extreme obstacles of prematurity but sadly he passed away after only 78 short days. He was a fighter from the get go and throughout his short life and even at his passing. I had hoped that my boy would pass on the musical legacy--I even had a Fender Strat waiting for him once he was big enough to play. Initially the loss was too much to bear but as time as passed I have learned how to channel Lachlan's spirit into my music and I write and play in his honor. I hope you can hear a little bit of his voice in all of my work. I love that picture of him--it was on the 2nd day of his life and the first time I was able to see him open his eyes. If you ask me...he looks like an Irish boxer who didn't quite like what you had to say. Anyway, all of this is for him...and while music always seem to have a selfish purpose before...now its so his voice and potential can live on.
Again, I would like to thank you for checking out my music. It is truly a labor of love. Feel free to leave comments. I am always open for collaboration so don't hesitate to ask. Generally, I hope you enjoy the music and it makes you feel good.
