Birmingham, Alabama is a city often associated with America’s murky racial past. Lately, its historic streets have found themselves to be impromptu battlegrounds in a seemingly never-ending urban war. It is from this environment that an artist unlike any other that has ever come from “the Magic City.” Terrence Merkerson, known to the world as T-Merk, is quickly rising as the premier lyricist in a city, a state that has been patiently awaiting it’s opportunity to show that it is really about on the world stage.
Those familiar with Alabama’s music scene have known that T-Merk has been making noise for several years, earning a significant following during his early formative years. High school would act as the official launching pad for this extremely talented lyricist for it was here that he would hone his verbal skills at local freestyle battles, usually resulting in the utter decimation of anyone that dared to challenge him.
Recording with local hit DJ, Dirty Vegas, and long time producer/collaborator B-Phlat, Merk created several hit songs that garnered him a cult-like following in his home city. Among them, "Peace of Mind", "Much More", and "Feelz Real Good" have all become bonafide Birmingham classics, receiving non-stop play at events, parties, and on local radio.
