Geoff Vidal / Bio

Winner of the 2012 Detroit Jazz Festival Saxophone Competition, Geoff Vidal is quickly emerging as a voice not to be missed on
the saxophone.  His current working group, the GV3 pushes boundaries and explores a multitude of sonic possibilities within one of
the most tried and true group formats in music - the trio.  Using conversational elements and bending traditional role-playing duties
within Vidal's original compositions, the GV3 captivates listeners with their succinctly seductive sound.

A native of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Geoff Vidal studied at UMASS Amherst under Jeff Holmes and Adam Kolker where he won
several Downbeat Student Music Awards as an outstanding collegiate soloist.  In 2003, Vidal attended Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead
before moving to New Orleans, LA.  In 2006 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Vidal moved to New York and quickly entrenched
himself around some of the most talented and forward-thinking musicians in the city.  In 2010, he released his debut album She Likes
That on the Arts & Music Factory label to critical acclaim.  Currently residing in Brooklyn, Vidal performs and teaches throughout
the New York metro area and the northeast as a leader, in addition to being an integral member of several steady working bands
including Fat Cat Big Band, Brother Joscephus & the Love Revival Revolution Orchestra, Cecilia Coleman Big Band and Gregorio
