Steve Madewell has had two major influences, music and nature.
He began singing and playing guitar early in his teens and has routinely performed in a myriad of venues ever since. He has been the opening act for many nationally recognized recording artists including Leon Russell, John Prine, Doc Watson, Jonathan Edwards, New Grass Revival, and John Sebastian. While his musical experiences have included working with many ensembles, he clearly enjoys solo performances.
Steve has enjoyed a successful career in the conservation field yet music has been a part of his life. Throughout his conservation career he has maintained a very active musical schedule appearing at up to 70 performances annually.
In recent years, Steve has shifted and expanded his musical efforts toward writing and recording original material and in 2002 he recorded Rivers and Trails. This is a selection of simple folk compositions based on the experiences he has had living, fishing and working in the out of doors.
In 2007 he released "Arrow Creek" a tribute to a more aware lifestyle.
Steve continues to write and perform his own material. He writes songs that tell stories inspired by the landscape, life and love, observations about where we have been and where we are going.
Steve enjoy's small concert settings and other intimate listening venues.
