Boy named Jon meets girl who calls herself Grr in the green, rolling hills of Western Massachusetts. Boy and girl form a band. That band is noumenon – irreverent, unclassifiable, and sometimes unpronounceable. Heavily influenced by rock, grunge, punk, and blues, noumenon uses acoustic guitars and raw, powerful vocals to create a pared-down folk-core sound that is nonetheless capable of blowing out eardrums.
Jon is a classically-trained pianist, vocalist and composer who believes that classical and rock music are not such different animals. He takes inspiration from such original punk rockers as Beethoven and Mussorgsky and incorporates his classical training into the writing of popular songs.
Grr is an experienced theatrical performer and blues singer who has always not-so-secretly aspired to be a rock star. Her vocal training from years in the theatre has led her to develop a voice that could potentially be used as a sonic weapon.
The duo has produced one album, cherryhole, and continues to pen songs and perform live in Berkshire County, MA.
