Josh Stoffer / Bio

Josh Stoffer has southern charm. His delta blues infused folk-rock listens like the sound track to a hot Arkansas night, Textured with the smoke filled taverns and 5 A.M. dive bars where he cut his chops, his sound is one of shear authenticity. Hailing from Little Rock, AR, Stoffer fronted the band Riverboat Crime from 2007 - 2010 and served as the groups primary song writer. Before taking a indefinite break in early 2010, Riverboat Crime enjoyed regoinal touring success and their debut album was "Walking Shoes" was well received by critics. Since his departure from Riverboat Crime, Josh Stoffer has taken a new direction. Playing solo, Alternating between dobro, classical guitar, mandolin and lap steel accompanied by a kick drum and tambourine at his feet his performances are being buzzed about in towns and venues across the south. Stoffer plays his instruments with the proficiency and swagger of a person who embodies dedication to one's craft. The sound fills the room, if you closed your eyes it would be easy to imagine a three piece backing band on stage with him. His playing invokes the spirits of delta blues greats such as Son House, Booka White, & Robert Johnson. He intertwines these rythms with ambient guitar loops, elements of sacred steel, and ry cooder inspired mandolin blues. His rich melodies drift along side vivid lyrical pictures painted by a soulful voice that lingers somewhere between Van Morrison and Otis Redding. Josh Stoffer will play a series of shows in the Pacific Northwest in October of 2010 before embarking on a national tour in support of the release of two EP's "Soul" and "Amarillo Dilemma" in early 2011.
