The Silver Cord was formed in 2006 by Kenneth J. Keifer, Jr. and Karl August Haikara (also of the black metal project Vide) to act as a free flowing expression of their artistry.
Their influences were and are to combine music like The Cure, Joy Division, Depeche Mode, etc. with gothic metal and black metal, such as Burzum, Moonspell, Cradle of Filth, Shining, Xasthur, etc. Kenneth's lyrics focus on expressing the darkest aspects of human existence, using his expression as a catharsis of the bleakness of reality.
Musically The Silver Cord has progressed greatly, from a more gothic, post-punk beginning into a more fully realized musical vision that manages to combine metal with 80's and ambient influences. Through live performance they have honed their craft and learned to develop their songwriting and album sequencing to keep a listener interested throughout.
With The Silver Cord's latest album "Hate" they have managed to convey their musical ideas in a broader and deeper spectrum combining together everything they have learned to create a unique vision and sound.
