The Greg Burroughs Band is a product nearly 7 years in the making. From its humble beginnings in Boston to its pavement pounding touring schedule today, it has quickly become one of the most exciting groups out of Nashville. What began as a creative way for Greg and a few of his buddies to help pay for college has grown into a 200-show-per-year enterprise that has no signs of slowing down, and many around the industry have begun to notice the band’s explosive potential.
When Greg Burroughs moved to Nashville in 2008, he began collaborating with world-renowned songwriters including David Lee, Darrell Brown and Clay Mills. After his first few years in town, which were focused on writing and networking, he returned to the road with his band in 2011. Since then band has shared bills with acts such as Charlie Daniels, Vince Gill, Travis Tritt and Jake Owen.
The Greg Burroughs Band creates an infectious, party-like atmosphere during its popular live shows, but the band exerts an equal amount of energy off of the stage. Impressively, the band has made most of its progress on its own, without the help of a record label, major booking agent or investor. While Burroughs acknowledges plenty of help along the way, the band is primarily self-financed and has done so through incessant touring, record sales, digital downloads and merchandise sales.
The Greg Burroughs Band is looking forward to putting out its next record in early 2014. Like “The Lucky Ones,” the group’s 2011 EP, the new album will stay true to its country roots yet push the “contemporary” Nashville sound.
