DJ Hegemony’s scratch oriented sound developed out of an obsession with strange spoken word vinyl and underground hip-hop turntabilism. You never know what you are going to get with a dj hegemony show because his sound will range from mixing up metal to rap to dance to stoney groves all the while scratching in spoken word samples ranging from evangelical preachers, stand up comedians, educational/instructional manuals, and children’s stories. “There is something I find so special about digging for lost gems that when I find something that has been lost to time and will separate my sound from any other performance out there right now, it just gives me the shivers.”
“I love collaborating with other artists in all types of creative expression ranging from other dj’s and musicians to performance artists and visual artists. My project Sons of E.D. which has had a rotating cast of participants including: bass players, producers, guitars, MC’s, as well as carnival side-show stage performances. My goal for any live show is to provide pleasing sounds as well as a visually engaging atmosphere and will often cut up and mix movie’s and pictures into a collage of visuals as well.” -DJ Hegemony
