These Animals lace ethereal symphonic rock with delicate pop and mellifluous harmonies.
The band met while attending art school in upstate New York and began writing together in the early months of 2010. In the past three years, These Animals released two EP's, Extended Play (Aaah Records) and Souvenir Sessions, for a combined 270,000 downloads and toured extensively through the U.S., capturing listeners and building a grassroots audience along the way.
In the winter of 2012, the band huddled together in a small cabin in western New York and began tracking songs they had penned over the last two years. They took their time developing each moment and sound.
The resulting album is a wave of graceful resonance sitting comfortably atop layered guitar lines; exuberant yet contained. From the vibrato fueled opener “I Wrote The Book,” the syncopated orchestrations of “Hunting Horn,” music box-infused shuffle of “Oak” and the segued opus of “Thieves” into the climactic fuzz of “Silence Sets The Tone,” Pages covers many textures along its path, while still remaining a cohesive work.
