Ron Sillito / Bio

The Best of the Bad Men was a group made of mostly family members. Members included Ron Sillito, Dennis Carney, Dennis Sillito, Elwood (Woody) Sillito, and Wade Sillito. They played a lot of rodeo dances through Saskatchewan and Alberta. The single “Buckskin and Leather” which was recorded back in 1975, is off of the CD “Pocket Full Of Dreams”. This single is about an ole cowboy, reminiscing about the past. It is told in such great detail that it is perfect for a storyline for a movie. Basically, the CD is following two cowboys drifting around Alberta trying to make a living. This song was written by Dennis Carney, from Red Deer, Alberta. This song also holds a special place in the hearts of each of these band members. For Dennis Carney, he wrote this song for his Grandfather, who was very ill at the time.
“Pockets Full Of Dreams” is a ballad was written with such introspective thought and meaning that to this day, it is claimed to be the best they’ve ever written.
Ron Sillito had written most of the songs on this CD. The band has had a lot of experiences collaborating with other artists in Canada. Truth be told, this country crooner has a voice like butter with wonderful instrumental highlights that bring depth and texture to his songs. That signature country twang is ever present in his music and brings delight and happy thoughts of how life used to be. This CD is absolutely wonderful and is a must buy in my book.
The Best of the Bad Men had opened for Ronnie Milsap for a couple of concerts in British Columbia. That particular string of shows was a wonderful time for the band. Ron Sillito has been in a semi-retirement stage for a few years, but is planning on doing a couple of videos in the next few weeks. He is also contemplating putting together another CD or EP.
Ron had spent 4 years in the states, 2 traveling with the club circuit, and 2 in the Army as an MP stationed at Ft. McPherson, Georgia.
