Among the youngest bands ever to storm the metal genre, Deviance has come to be known as one of the most influential bands to emerge from the thriving Orlando area Rock scene. Make no mistake…these deviants, yet young in age, are now on the map as one of the genre’s most extreme and energized groups O-Town has ever seen.
Deviance came together in 2006 when guitarist/vocalist Hampton Black, his brother - the bassist, Nick Black, and guitarist/vocalist Chris Givens got together to create every teen’s dream…their very own rock band. Drawing musical inspiration from Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Metallica, and even Pink Floyd, the trio (Alex, their drummer, hasn't joined yet) went about composing original tunes and making very rough, crude rehearsal recordings to send out to various agents/clubs around the area. It didn’t take long until this hard hitting, explosive prog rock band found their way.
So what do these deviants bring to the table? Deviance dishes out a number of scorching riffs and a litany of menacing tunes, rocking you to the core with the most blazing intensity. Deviance is 100% original. Not only have they demonstrated killer success in the metal genre but they are well versed in mixing things up and showing the fans a refined edge to them. They can pull off a classical tune, a spice of jazz, and maybe a little feeling of island-reggae like you have never seen before. All amped up--with a little hint of that progressive influence bleeding right through.
All in all, the writing and composing is a concerted effort between Chris, Hampton, Nick, and Alex. By bouncing ideas off of one another, they can hone in their skills to create the perfect piece. This high energy, intensive music brings the group and, most importantly, the fans together for an exciting and always a very…memorable experience!
