Working with the best 2 female indie artists I have ever heard sing is a great feeling. They are remarkable Country artists and both have the talent to go on to become A- list. They are "Alexis Erin Pond," and "Vanessa Lavoie." I am priveledged in the fact that I have the honor to be working with them on their recording projects. I personally think they both will win major awards in the Country Music category someday soon. (Check out the 2 cover songs they recorded on my song list. "Jesus Take The Wheel" by Alexis, and "Don't Turn And Walk Away" by Vanessa. Both cover songs.)
I am also a songwriter that has won 4 best song awards from Akademia Music Awards. 2 in the month of March for best R&B/Soul with my song "Lost And Lonely Soul" and Best song in the Americana with my song "Ten Million Tears" recorded by Christian St. James. I also wrote the song that was voted best childrens song in the month of April that was recorded by my grandaughter Gizelle. Then in the month of June Alexis Erin Pond won best song in the Country category with another song I wrote "This Butterfly Feeling." I was also nominated for another award in April from the Akademia Music Awards. I have 2 songs including the # 1 song "I'll Never Let Go" on Archer's cd "Emotional and Inspirational" that was nominated into the top 5 category of Best Country Recording of The Year, in the P.E.I. Music Awards 2014. The other song on the album I have is "Long Ago." Being in the front row and nominated in the top 5 was an awesome experience. Hopefully next year we will win.
My song "Ten Million Tears" by Christian St. James made it past the first round of votes in the 55th Grammy's.
Then in June I was given a Songwriter Of The Year Award from Tim Archer for having the # 1 song on his newly released album Inspirational and Spiritual with my song "I'll Never Let Go" co-written with Tim. I also have another top song on his album "Long Ago" that I wrote.
Although these are small awards that no-one really recognizes, they still had to compete against hundreds of other songs in each category. (with the exception of the award given to me from Tim Archer) They are awards that I will cherish always as a writer.
I have written for many Indie recording artists as you can see from the names on my song lists, and still there are other artists that have asked me to write for them. But...my main focus remaines on just 2 artists that have exceptional talent, Alexis Erin Pond, and Tim Archer. Alexis was offered a contract from Sony at the age of 16, and although her and her family didn't think she was ready then, she is now. At the age of 20 she has been contacted by the director of the Texaco Country Music Showdown to perform and compete in reginal and state competitions. And she is now being asked to perform at a major up-coming showcase in September in front of major labels. Only good things can happen from here on out for her. The greatest part of that is she has "Promised" to keep me as one of her writer's when she gets signed to a major. "Thank you" Alexis Erin, I believe, as do others that you are an amazing artist that will reach your goal as being a top performing Country artist soon.
Tim Archer is the other top performing artist that I will continue to write for. He has released many albums and is one of Canada's top 10 performing Country Artists. His fan base stretches through out Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. with over 100k fans. I am now currently working on a Christmas album for Tim as he wants original songs on his next Country Christmas album.
My 2 main goals are to write a song that will put an artist or artists up on that "Red Carpet" for an award. A lot of people including the famous Jack Ashford of the Funk Brothers Band, and who was with the famous groups from the Mo-Town days, said "I was one of the best song writers of todays times. I can write lyrics with out music if you tell me what you need and style, or... I can write words to instrumental tracks, if you tell me what you are looking for in words.
Basically I can write any genre or style song except I don't write Hip/Hop or Rap. But in seeing if I could, I did write "Superficial Man" which is Rock/Rap and available to any recording artist upon request.
In ending here I just want to say one more thing "See You On The Red Carpet..."
