Brad Furlow comes from small-town Southern Illinois where he came to classical music early. Primarily a brass player (tuba), he began composing while attending secondary school, with the guidance of his music teacher Mrs. Rhonda Jourdan.
Mr. Furlow attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (SIUC) where he was very active in bands program under Professor Michael Hanes & Dr. Thomas Bough. Primarily a tuba player, Mr. Furlow became fluent on most brass, wind, string and percussion instruments. During his time at SIUC, Mr. Furlow advanced his composition studies under Dr. Frank Stemper. Mr. Furlow is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education, and taught in the Illinois Public schools before moving to Colorado in 2004.
Mr. Furlow is also an experienced conductor, with many hours on the podium with concert bands, wind ensembles, and small group ensembles. His passion for bringing out the expression in music is a hallmark of his overall style. Mr. Furlow works exclusively on a Roland Fantom G8 Workstation Synthesizer, and publishes exclusively on Finale Music Notation Software with sounds provided through Garritan Sound Libraries.
