I seriously started making music with age 14 in 1989. Some of my favourit bands at this time included AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Jimi Hendrix and some of the live bands that frequently played at our youth center. I'm still listening to all of that bands. Todays favorite Musicians include Faith no More (Mike Patton), Deftones and Rammstein. FnM for its diversity, Deftones for its passion and Rammstein for its sheer power and philosophie.
I actually never played in a band until 1998, which I would prefer to give it the definition of a "project", since we were missing a drummer. After struggling with my bandmates for two years I finally quit, due to the bad quality of input one of the members granted.
The first electric guitar I ever purchased was sold to me from a good friend, who was forced by his parents to play an instrument, but never really liked it. It was a 1979 Fender Stratocaster that only costs me ~400$, really great deal. However, the guitar got damaged beyond being fixable in 2001. I've purchased a Harley Bentton in 2002.
In 2000 I autodictatively learned some basic drums, mainly trying to cover songs from Deftones and any band Dave Grohl played in. Usage of my Computer and the Internets was common so I also found some Websites which tought me how to produce music.
Besides playing the Guitar and Bass I always accompany my music with vocals. All Lyrics are handwritten and, just like the music, partly reaches back to 1989. My current equipment consists of a Sure microphone, a Harley Bentton Guitar and Bass, the FL Studio recording/mixing software and Riffworks recording Software. I also use Aduacity and a Line6 POD UX1. I'm currently trying to recreate all of the past songs before trying some new material.
My main influence in music is Deftones, Faith no More, Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath(old times only with Ozzy) and bands like the Police, Depeche Mode, Rammstein, System of a down and Nirvana. People keep telling me my vocal style reminds them of Alice in Chains, so I guess Lemy also had a strong influence on me in my youth.
