The new Delta Jets, formed in 2008, is the three-piece outfit you hear now. The super-talented Joe Vanesky plays harp, harmonica and sings some leads and harmonies. David Will plays washboard, drums and does some lead and harmony vocals, his playing and showmanship is to-die-for! I count my blessings working with these guys. I hope we can get all the new songs recorded! I've got a dozen ready to go. Thanks guys!
I've worked in this field for about forty-five years now, ever since my first band practiced out at the Kelly Brook 4H clubhouse way up on County K between Oconto Falls and Gillett. We worked for months on 'Pipeline'. Darryl St. John and I listened to LPs and 45s tryin' to figure out those complicated chords to songs like 'Roll Over Beethoven'. Greg Bergner and Mick Kardoskee rounded out the band on drums and rhythm guitar respectively. We are all OFHS class of '68! Thanks, Impacts or Toronados (Darryl and I fought over the name). Thanks Aunt Lilly for letting me play.
I write songs about broken hearts and bad women, dark roads and shadowy men. Most songs are just the telling of my life, not because the women are bad or the people are hard, but because I have a vehicle to express the tumult that goes on the the gut of an ordinary man. I'm very fortunate that people are willing to listen to this dusty story and to forgive me for being myself. I once heard someone say "I have no regrets and no remorse". Well, it wasn't me... I've been rolling around this world for nearly sixty years, and I'm still wondering where have my Mom and Dad gone.
One thing I know. I have the music, I have the muse. I need the music, I need to sing it out and say it. Bogart said what one man does doesn't amount to a hill of beans. Well, that's me. I'm gonna play until I can't go out the house no more. I have The Delta Jets... I am The Delta Jets! Thanks to whoever's hearin' it! Thanks up there...
