Bintang Batu was formed back in 2008; with a humble objective, to leave their mark in the local indie music scene. Founded by Roland, Farhunt and Yeop, the group was later completed by the entrant of BF. In 2009, they had recorded 7 songs and as a part of achieving their goal, the first demo was launched. ‘Epic No.1’: a 3 songs demo was released and distributed independently throughout their live gigs and social networking sites. It didn’t take that long before Bintang Batu starts getting the recognition by the fan with their 1st single, ‘Seloka Belalang’. A fresh and energetic interpretation of the late Allahyarham Tan Sri P. Ramlee’s Nujum Pak Belalang, ‘Seloka Belalang’ has helped the band to build their fan base and as the popularity of ‘Seloka Belalang’ rises, Bintang Batu has been offered an opportunity to film their music videos and luckily for them, ‘Seloka Belalang’ was getting a frequent air play through Astro’s Channel 180, Muzik Aktif.
Fast forward to 2011, the year that sets a new benchmark for Bintang Batu’s musical chapter. The band’s 2nd single ‘Romansa Bidadari’ has successfully reached a bigger audience and the band is finally gaining the much needed commercial breakthrough. Through the exposure and support given by local radio stations (HotFM, KL FM, Muzik FM and Suria FM), Bintang Batu has made a radio appearance for Muzik FM’s Rock Selamba and HotFM’s Kita Punya. Like a snowball effect where one thing leads to the other, Bintang Batu is set to launch their 2nd album ‘Duology’: a re-package album that made up of older songs plus the latest take from the recent recording. As the launch of the “Duology’ album is around the corner and after years of playing and recording without a permanent drummer, the puzzle pieces finally fall into place when Roland, Farhunt, Yeop and BF decided to embrace Bz as a part of Bintang Batu. A promising new beginning as nothing is impossible. The band continues to move forward as it gets obvious that they are one step closer in achieving their dream.
