With each member of Kasson comes a unique perspective of style, creativity and motivation that come together to form a whole, which is truly greater than the sum of its parts. Their upbeat Euphoric Instrumentals, driving Rock Bass, Big Drums, and catchy Melodic Vocals are derived from an eclectic mix of inspirational styles of music from Classic Rock, Blues and Gospel; to newer Indie, Pop and Alternative Rock sounds.
“From the beginning, we wanted to display our own individual styles and life experiences through our music. We knew that if we were open and honest with our music as individuals, then we could create something together that is authentic, relatable and understood by our listeners. We choose not to fit into any one genre of music. We believe that music is free flowing, ever-changing and has no room for boundaries.” – The members of Kasson.
The idea of Kasson was conceived by Durik Comtois (Bass Guitar/Vocals) and his identical twin brother Evan (Drums/Keys/Vocals) who were looking for a way to show the world true feeling through music. Growing up surrounded by a family of trained vocalists and performers, they found themselves uncontrollably drawn toward music from a young age. It wasn’t until later in life, however, that they decided to take a step in a more serious direction with the idea of creating a band that would help them do just that.
They began to collaborate with influential mentor & friend Matthew Watson. “In our jam sessions we would learn about a whole new sound of indie style music & time signatures that would help influence the new way we looked at songwriting.” – Durik. Always looking for a new creative opportunity, the Brothers went on to record vocals in the studio with Diamond Award winning Multi-Platinum producer Gary Carolla (N'Sync) and four time Dove Award winning music producer Andy Anderson (Tony Battaglia & Pete Thornton).
Deciding to take it to the next level, the Brothers started their search for a Guitarist who really understood the direction they were going and could also write tasteful and edgy riffs. After jamming with multiple musicians that left them unsatisfied, they finally found what they were looking for.
Jordan Telesca (Guitars/Sax/Backup Vocals) studied Business Management and Entrepreneurship at the University of Central Florida where, on top of working to earn his Degree, much of his time was spent collaborating with other local musicians and friends. Jordan was introduced to Durik in November, 2013 while working at Hard Rock Cafe where they instantly became friends and shared a similar strong passion for music. Adding creative lead guitar riffs and tight rhythms, they were the perfect fit. With all the pieces of the puzzle in place, Kasson was formed.
After 4 months the band had written and recorded their first single “Gold”. The song was selected by the Remix Your Future company to be put on their ‘Best of the City: Orlando Edition’ album, which can be found on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Amazon, and a variety of other music outlets. With over 70,000 streams, Kasson’s “Gold” ranks among the top ten artists in sales and streams in over 90 cities around the world that the Remix Your Future Company has created ‘Best of the City’ albums for. This has sparked a fire under Kasson and verified something they felt they already knew: they had something special.
Pushing forward, the band has performed with major artists all over their home state of Florida including X107.3 & Axis Magazine’s Big O Festival in Orlando; featuring Fall Out Boy, Weezer, Young the Giant, Dirty Heads, New Politics and more. Additionally, they are currently in the final stages of recording and releasing their new EP by January, 2015 with the help of Gustavo Porras of Red Lion Audio recording studio in Orlando, FL.
With a growing social media following and increasing popularity in the Central Florida market, Kasson is on the rise and looking to break through into the international spotlight.
“Kasson has become not just a project, but a group ideal about how to grow, love and build strength. It’s a family that includes ourselves and everyone we can speak to through our music.”
