Jessica Meuse (also known as Jess Meuse) in an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Slapout, Alabama. She has been performing in public since the age of 10, and self-released a debut album called "What's So Hard About Bein' A Man" in early 2011. In addition to singing writing, and performing, Jessica has always had a background heavy in music and plays several instruments; she is classically trained on violin, and at the age of 13, she joined the Montgomery Youth Orchestra, where she worked her way from the back of her section to principal second violin. During that time, Jessica started teaching herself to play guitar and began incorporating it into her musical act, which ranged from local events, festivals, and fundraisers, to regional concerts. She also plays piano.
When Jess was 20, she won the state-wide artist showcase, Stars of Alabama. In 2013, Jessica took first place in a local singer/songwriter competition that took place over the course of 8 weeks at Workplay Theater in Birmingham, Alabama. Since then, she has performed at venues such as The Nick, Rogue Tavern (opening for Tracey Lawrence in 2013), Bar 31, Zydeco, Iron City, Avondale Brewery (opened for Six Pence None the Richer in 2013), the Alabama National Fair (when she was 12), and even The Montgomery Riverfront (opening for Nine Days). In addition to performing within her state, Jessica has also made a habit of traveling the country to perform. In both January 2012 and 2013, she travelled to perform at the Post SXSW Freddy Powers Pickin' Party in Austin, Texas. Jessica was also a contestant on Season 3 of NBC's The Voice in 2012, and she made it to the blind auditions.
In summer 2013, Jessica won a spot to perform a set at the Vans Warped Tour in Atlanta, Georgia. The very next day, she began her American Idol journey, spontaneously, down the road at the Gwinnett Center. In 2013-2014, Jessica Meuse competed on the national television series, finishing in 4th place, and becoming the first person in the history of the show to perform an original song ("Blue-Eyed Lie") during the finals. She went on to tour with the Idols LIVE Tour in summer 2014, visiting 40 different cities in the United States and Canada.
Since the show, Meuse is actively seeking management, writing new material, and participating in as many musical opportunities as possible. She is currently competing in the Guitar Center singer/songwriter contest, where she ultimately placed 4th; the competition is currently still in progress but is undergoing the judging period. Jessica released her first independent single, "Done," recorded and mixed by a small production team based in Los Angeles. She plans to release an EP as soon as possible and tour the country once more - as Jessica Meuse.
