Swamp da Wamp, The heir apparent to some of the great Southern rockers of the past, Swamp da Wamp’s music is part modern rock, part classic rock, part Southern rock, part country, and part blues – but all rock n’ roll. Their unique sound, wicked twin guitar interactions and energetic live shows have made the band a favorite of untold rock fans since the band’s inception in 2005. Driven by social media and “word of mouth” their fan base continues to increase exponentially. Swamp da Wamp has shared billing with artists such as ZZ Top, Paul Rodgers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Foreigner, .38 Special, Molly Hatchet, Pat Travers, and The Marshall Tucker Band, among many others, and remains one of the Carolina’s best talents. Swamp da Wamp is actively involved in the anti-bullying movement and advocating for our military veterans – two important causes which their upcoming national tour will support. Swamp da Wamp front man, Gig Michaels, says, “We’re honored and humbled to receive such a prestigious award, and we’re thrilled to be recognized for our music which has always remained true to our Carolina roots.”
The Carolina Music Awards honors musicians from both North and South Carolina, and further serves to recognize and promote Carolina music in the Rock, Hip Hop, Youth, Bluegrass, Americana, Country and R&B genres. Other supporters include Darius Rucker (Country artist and member of “Hootie and the Blowfish”), record label executives, producers, and other industry professionals.
