J The S (short for Jake the Snake) refuses to confine himself to simple categorization and brings the entire spectrum of his life experiences to the table in his music.
Born in Massachusetts, Jake split time between Montserrat and Nevis in the West Indies until age five. Upon returning to the States, years were spent for brief periods in different cities in Massachusetts and Vermont. By the time he arrived in Boston as a teen, a volatile domestic situation and flawed role models had already inspired a notebook full of rhymes and a dedication rarely seen in young artists.
That means he can do a song about Boston's youth violence epidemic ("Long Hot Summer" with Letia LaRok) and a gritty street-oriented track with his group the Greater Good both with equal credibility.
He can craft radio hits like "Put My Cape On" & "The Last Party" with platinum artist Jadakiss (combined have scored over 1000 BDS spins on commercial radio thus far) and still perform alongside political artists like dead prez, KRS-One and Immortal Technique."
